13. Yeasayer - Odd Blood
The key development in Odd Blood by Yeasayer is its directness, gained from an increased assurance in who they are and what they're doing. From sinuous synths, imitation-piano arpeggios, and singer Keating 's semi-hysterical falsetto, this is a genuinely beautiful record. Yeasayer have uncluttered and uncomplicated songs that didn't exist on the jamboree of All Hour Cymbals. Whether you prefer them mysterious, shadowy, and stoned-sounding, or openly striving for lyrical clarity and dancefloor fervor is a personal choice. But neither side of the divide could deny that it's a large evolutionary leap Yeasayer's made. And no one can deny the glories of Ambling Alp.
