14. Klaxons - Surfing the Void
Finally. Three years on from their brilliant, Mercury Prize winning debut Myths of the Near Future, Britain’s Klaxons are back with their follow up Surfing The Void. Why the wait? Apparently a whole album was scrapped after their label Polydor were disappointed with it. Surfing the Void in fact, continues on the path of their previous theme with the continuum of space, the universe and alternative realities. This offering is another taste of untamed, dance-damaged Britpoprock. I'm glad these guys have emerged from the first-album hype cycle, finding their sci-fi niche and expanding on it only slightly. Must listens include Twin Flames, Echoes, Cypherspeed and Extra Astronomical.
